This applies only to School Age children 6-12 years old.

Staff are responsible for the safety of all children while children are in their care, however once the children are dismissed into the schoolyard it is difficult for educators to keep track of the children among other school children. Therefore, the following procedures will be put into place when dismissing children into the schoolyard:

  1. Educators will ensure there is a school staff on premise before dismissing children into the schoolyard.
  2. If there is not a school staff available, the educators will keep the children with them as a group until a school staff is available and then dismiss the children.
  3. If educators feel the children’s safety is at risk, they are to keep the children as a group and only dismiss them at the sound of the bell.
  4. If the weather does not permit the dismissal of the children into the schoolyard, educators will keep the children indoors and then dismiss them directly into the school at the sound of the second bell.

It is the educator’s responsibility to ensure that these procedures are followed.
