Welcome to the Preschool Program at our Child Care Centre.
The following is what you will need to bring on your child’s first day at the Centre:
- Two sets of extra indoor clothing in case of accidents
- Appropriate outdoor clothing depending on the weather
- Clothes that you do not mind getting dirty
To see ourselves as knowledgeable educators, we are also co-learners in each child’s journey of learning. In the Preschool Program, we continue to create positive and meaningful learning opportunities that follow the children’s lead in their learning and interests. We observe each child’s learning and use resources to program and document how the children learn through play. We learn along each child’s sense of wonder and curiosity; encouraging their exploration and inquiry with the world around them.
Children should be toilet trained when they start the program, however, if your child is still in the process of being toilet trained, please ensure there are plenty of extra clothes. When you arrive in the room, and settle your child into the program, educators will sign your child in and then sign your child out when you are departing from the Centre.
The playroom is designed to include various interest areas, which are opened-ended and provide valuable opportunities for new and pleasurable experiences in accordance with ‘How Does Learning Happen’. We provide the child with the environment to discover how things function and why things happen.
In providing this atmosphere, the child will further develop their social and imaginative skills. In addition to the challenging environment provided, educators plan activities that are geared to meet the children’s interest and developmental needs.
Please refer to the weekly program plan for more information on the activities planned .
Children need a rest time in order to prepare them for the remainder of the day. The rest time shall not exceed two hours in length. The children are encouraged to sleep, but if your child does not sleep, he/she will be offered a quiet activity. The Centre provides blankets for the children, however if you wish to bring one from home you may do so.
Each day children will spend two hours outside; please ensure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing.
** Please remember that if the child is well enough to attend the Centre, they must also participate in outdoor activities.
